Gert Sibande TVET College held its award ceremony for educators who got outstanding output of results in their subjects.
The awards were held on the Thursday, 20 October 2022 in Trichardt.
Ms Ncumiswa Mdlankomo has been amongst the most outstanding lecturers at the college since her teaching career started with the college.
She is a lecture in the so-called male dominated sector of Engineering where she teaches Mechanical Engineering and Mechatronics which are the modules aligned with the 4 IR.
Ma’am Mdlankomo also known as Mkhozi by most of her students received a Gold Certificate for producing a 90 to 100% pass rate for her modules.
“I am very privileged to have been with the college because management is very supportive and they make it easy for us to establish a good working relationship with our students,” said Mdlankomo with pride in her work.
With realisation of true potential amongst her students, Ncumiswa also offers free extra lessons for her students because she believes that each student has the ability to unleash their true potential.
Also runs a project where she supplies learners form below the poverty line with sanitary towels at the college to avoid absenteeism and she has also approached bus companies to assist with bus tickets as well as therapist to assist with social issues.
The leaners recognise her not only as their favourite educator but also as a mother due to her open-door policy.
Mr Jabhi Nkosi, Campus Manager at Evander Campus aplauded the great work the leacturers are doing for the students.
“They lead the train to its destination and if on the wrong track, the train never reaches its destination,” said Mr Nkosi thanking the team he works with for the outstanding results the campus has been able to achieve because of them.
