The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela, has praised SAPS members for the swift arrest of a 34-year-old male suspect on allegations of attempted murder, whereby a female victim was stabbed on Sunday, 04 February 2024 around 10h30.

According to a report, the incident is said to have occurred at Extension 10, Lebohang, in Leslie.

It is alleged that the two individuals, identified as party agents, were somehow involved in a heated argument, then the situation turned violent, and it was during this time that the suspect allegedly attacked the woman.

The said incident reportedly took place during the voter registration period.

Details of the incident, which is still under police investigation, indicate that after the victim was stabbed, she was taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment while a case of attempted murder was opened.

Members of the police investigated the matter; hence, they arrested the suspect on Monday, 05 February 2024 and charged him accordingly.

The male suspect is expected to appear at the Leslie Periodical Court on Wednesday, 07 February 2024 facing a murder charge.
