Rand Water informed Govan Mbeki Municipality and other municipalities whom they are responsible to supply water about the upcoming water shutdown due to planned maintenance.
This will affect the normal water supply to the residents of the municipality.
Members of the community have been already informed about the shutdown various media and communication platforms.
4.1. THE PLANNED MAINTENANCE SCHEDULED IS AS FOLLOWS:
4.1.1. Transformer Upgrade for NMD increase at Trichardt (affecting Trichardt Booster pump)

The upgrading of transformer will affect the power supply at the Trichardt Booster pump station which supply water to region 1 (Bethal/eMzinoni). The backup power generator will be in use to pump water for the duration of power outage.
Planned Intervention
4 x water trucks will be on standby to assist with water supply should the back-up generator experience challenges during the shutdown period.
4.1.2. Tie in new N6 to old N6 pipeline

The connection of new Rand Water N6 line to old N6 line will affect the water supply to Govan Mbeki for the duration of 54 hours.
Rand water will not be pumping water to Govan Mbeki during the shutdown period.
GMM will be assisting with water supply to the community using the water trucks during the shutdown period.
Planned Intervention
6 x trucks will be assisting Region 1 areas.
10 x trucks will be assisting Region 2 areas (Trichardt, Secunda, Evander, Kinross, Leandra and Eendracht)
8 x trucks will be assisting region three areas (eMbalenhle and Charl Celliers).
4.1.3. Installation of new infrastructure that provide argumentation and flexibility at Mapleton Station (new engine room and new disinfection plants)

The installation of new infrastructure that provide argumentation and flexibility at Mapleton Station (new engine room and new disinfection plants) by Rand Water will affect (on a worst-case scenario) the water supply to Govan Mbeki for the duration of 77 hours.
Rand Water will not be pumping water to Govan Mbeki on a worst–case scenario during the shutdown period.
The municipality will be assisting with water supply to the community using the water trucks during the shutdown period.
Planned Intervention
7 x trucks will be assisting Region 1 areas.
10 x trucks will be assisting Region 2 areas (Trichardt, Secunda, Evander, Kinross, Leandra and Eendracht)
8 x trucks will be assisting Region 3 areas (eMbalenhle and Charl Cilliers).
