Sbusiso Sydney Sibeko (31), a police constable stationed at Secunda, reappeared before the Evander Magistrate Court for his formal bail application in connection with the alleged double murder of Simphiwe Thanjekwayo and Zwelithini Khanye.
The accused is facing charges of murder and kidnapping .
It was evident in court that the accused cellphone was found at the scene where the two deceased were discovered.
DNA evidence was collected in the accused’s car where blood was found.
The accused allegedly handed himself over to the police after he was called by his superiors at the police station.
The court agreed with the defense that the accused will not be able to attend to his disciplinary hearing with his employer if he is incarcerated.
The court was satisfied that circumstantial evidence exists that the accused be granted bail.
The accused was then granted bail to the amount of R8000.00 and the matter was postponed to 25 March 2025 for further investigation.
