The Govan Mbeki Municipality, in collaboration with the speaker of council, Cllr Fikile Magagamela, hosted a Moral Regeneration launch on Friday, 26 May 2023 at House of Praise Terbanacle in eMbalenhle.
The aim of Moral Regeneration is to make a concerted effort at rejuvenating the moral fibre of our society by building on the values envisioned in the Constitution and building a better future for young people within the Govan Mbeki Municipality.
Cllr Fikile Magagamela, the speaker of council, stated that the greatest challenge is how to make these principles our common ideals and how to give them genuine significance in the everyday lives of regular men, women, and children.
Therefore, the Moral Regeneration Movement endeavours to provide a framework within which we may start a conversation, embed a new set of values in our society as a whole, and educate and nurture them in our children.
Instead of broken family structures, dysfunctional institutions, immoral individuals and groups, we need institutions, people, and groups that are functioning, vital, and dynamic.
Different stakeholders were invited, including SAPS, DSD, religious leaders and traditional healers to share their message of support.
“We appreciate the hard work our speaker of council is doing for the municipality.
Teenagers have lost control and we do not know what to do anymore, so what the speaker is about to do will change their lives,” said Pastor Khumalo.
