A 51-year-old senior prosecutor and a 52-year-old co-accused made a brief appearance before the Evander Magistrates’ Court on Thursday facing serious charges, including rape, sexual assault, and crimen injuria involving a co-worker.
The two men were arrested on Thursday, 20 August 2026.
According to the details presented to the court, accused number one is a senior prosecutor attached to the Evander Magistrates’ Court, while accused number two is alleged to be an acquaintance of the prosecutor.
The State has indicated that it will strongly oppose bail for both accused.
Consequently, the matter was postponed to Wednesday, 26 August 2026, for a formal bail application.
Both accused remain in police custody and are expected to return to the dock next week as legal proceedings continue.
