The Sasol for Good team celebrated Nelson Mandela Day on Thursday, 20 July 2023 at Sasol Indaba Lapa in Secunda.
This year’s Mandela Day celebration aims to provide consolation and dignity to disadvantaged women and children.
Over 2000 new mothers admitted to Evander District Hospital will receive dignity packages from Sasol, in collaboration with the Mpumalanga Department of Health, containing clothing, toiletries, and infant necessities.
In addition, Sasol will upgrade and restore the roof of the Thuthuzela Care Centre and shelter for disadvantaged women and children, and donate toys to children.
“Whether the gift is big or small, it is important that you try to make a difference in your community.
During Mandela Month, let us change lives since that is what our icon sought to do in people’s lives,” said Mashudu Ndou, Vice President of Corporate and Community Affairs at Sasol.
Cllr Jabu Zwane, Acting Executive Mayor stated that although Nelson Mandela Day is not declared as a public holiday in the Republic, let everyone celebrate it by taking 67 minutes of their time and giving back to the community.
In conclusion, the Sasol for Good team members thanked other employees for helping them pack all the packages and expressed their excitement about the hospital delivery.
