There is an alleged TB outbreak at the Bethal correctional facilities.
Prisoners due for their court appearance on Wednesday, 31 January 2024 missed their day in court due to an alleged tuberculosis (TB) outbreak at the facility.
The alleged outbreak of TB is said to have infected a number of prisoners at the facility; therefore, they are currently being kept inside the facility to contain the outbreak.
The Seskhona News team contacted the National Spokesperson for the Department of Correctional Services, Mr Sechaba Mphahlele, to get a response regarding the allegations, but his phone rang unanswered, and furthermore, communication is currently being made by the team.
