The Lerato Nogabe foundation hosted yet another successful Miss Ekasi competition on the 05 August 2023 at Lillian Ngoyi centre in Secunda.
The aim of the foundation is to ignite growth, love and unity in communities.
The foundation held its first Miss Ekasi the previous year which only had two categories.
This year the foundation added Little Miss Ekasi and Mr Ekasi.
The pageant featured models from different parts of Govan Mbeki municipality.
Khomotso Boleka reined the queen after she was crowned Miss Ekasi 2023.
During an interview with Seskhona team, she said whilst growing up, she always had interest in modelling and with her mother’s encouragement she then pursued modelling.
Khomotso therefore entered her very first competition and she was crowned junior Miss Teen Emba which was her very first tittle.
Winning this title is both an honor and responsibility so I plan to wear this crown with utmost pride and dignity to fulfil the motto of the pageant which is to ignite growth, love and unity, said Khomotso the newly crowned Miss Ekasi
” I advocate for self-awareness because I strongly believe that the only way we can help each other as the youth to make our community better is if we come together as one and work together, but firstly before we can do that we need to find ourselves as individuals.
Be aware of ourselves, our strengths and weaknesses.
So I’m planing on raising awareness campaigns where I help young people find themselves and the power that lies within them so they can rise and be effective in their respective communities,” Sphamadla said as he outlined what he will be advocating for during his reign as Mr Ekasi.
Smillo Mathebula took the miss teen Ekasi tittle meanwhile Janet Matsemane took the Little Miss Ekasi title.
The pageant included awards of the Voice of Ekasi, Photogenic, Social butterfly, personality and public choice award.
