Palesa Gladness Tsotetsi appeared before the Evander Magistrate Court on 28 August 2023 on charges for for murder and child neglect.
It is alleged that on the fateful day of Friday, the 18th of August 2023, the accused beat her step child to death at their residence where she stayed with the father of the child in Embalenhle Marikana section.
It is further alleged that the suspect used any instrument she could get in the house to beat the child.
Upon realizing the child was no longer responsive she carried her on her back to the clinic where she was seen pacing up and down before finally going to the nurses.
Furthermore, it is alleged she took the child inside the clinic where nursed examined her and declared her deceased.
Upon noticing the bruises and a badly cut on the child’s forehead the nurses informed the SAPS who later arrested the suspect.
Residence of Marikana were chanting no bail to the suspect outside court as she appeared for her formal bail application.
The suspect abandoned her bail in court where it was postponed for further investigation.
