Two suspects aged 25 and 26 years old are expected to appear at the Standerton Magistrate’s Court today, 09 June 2025, for murder as well as attempted murder.
According to police report, the incident took place on Friday, 06 June 2025, at Sakhile. It is alleged that a 35 year old woman was walking along with her male friend when they were stopped by the two women who were friends with the victim. They accused her of stealing R1000 at a party they attended together.
The suspects reportedly took the victim and her male friend to a shack belonging to one of the suspect’s boyfriend and upon arrival, they started assaulting them using an electric cable cord, shovel and further used a knife to stabbed them demanding their money.
After realising that the woman was unconscious, they took her to the clinic and on arrival, the women was certified death due to injuries sustain as she had stabbed knife wound on her back and had bruises with swollen head.
Police were called to the scene, and the suspects were arrested, facing charges of murder of the woman and attempted murder of the boyfriend.
The boyfriend is currently in hospital in a critical but stable condition.
The Acting Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in the Mpumalanga, Major General (Dr) Zeph Mkhwanazi has strongly condemned the actions conducted by these women and urged the community to work closely with the police, report criminal activities and refrain from taking matters into their own hands.
