Embalenhle Ward 19 residents lost hope in the municipality with the unfinished road construction that poses risk for both motorists and residents, especially learners of Zamokuhle Primary School during rainy seasons.
The road was dug by the contractor who was awarded the road construction tender at Ext 1 and Ext 18 (starting from Wellas robots).
What residents do not understand is that they were informed that the previous contractor’s contract was terminated but the board on the road still shows the name of Maphanga (previous contractor).
Residents of Ward 19 said they are aware that the municipality is busy with other projects, but nothing is said about the unfinished road.
“Maybe they are banking it for the use of the election campaign,” said one of the residents.
Efforts to get a comment from the Govan Mbeki Municipality communication department were unsuccessful as the phones were just ringing and they also did not respond to the email.
