After 11 years since the death of a taxi owner from Embalenhle Ext 15, Thembisa Zulu (47), the widow of an assassinated taxi owner along with her accomplices who were identified as Seetsa David Mofokeng (44), Mojalefa Christopher Matsobane (43) were convicted by the Delmas High Court on Friday, 16 September 2022.

The conviction follows the incident which happened on 4 July 2011, where the deceased, Deviliers Dan Zulu who was a taxi owner was shot and killed in front of his gate at Ext 15, Embalenhle.

The case of murder was opened and further transferred to the Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation based in Secunda for further investigation.

As the investigation was pursued, it was established that Thembisa Zulu, the wife of the deceased hired two hitmen, Mofokeng and Matsobane who ambushed the deceased in his residence.

It was also further established that the deceased phoned the wife while he was at the gate on the day in question.

After opening the gate, the hitmen shot the victim and fled the scene.

Mofokeng was found guilty of murder, unlawful possession of firearm and ammunition meanwhile Matsobane and the wife, Zulu were found guilty of murder and conspiracy to commit a crime. 

The case against all three accused was postponed to 22 September 2022 for sentencing and the the accused remain in custody.
