Two women have been robbed of their money at Emba Mall whilst trying to send to their relatives on Thursday, 07 September 2023.
One victim was robbed of an amount valued at R750.00 when she deposited the money at a Clothing Store.
The victim alleges after sending the money, she sent a voice note recording of the pin on Whatsapp.
The next day the victim’s daughter claimed she had not received the money.
The victim enquired with the store and she was told her money has been withdrawn at Ext 4 Engine garage.
In another incident a female victim was scammed an amount of R510.00, where she also alleges she deposited the money at the store thereafter called the recipient, giving her the pin instantly.
A few minutes later the recipient informed the victim that the money had been withdrawn already.
The victim rushed back to enquire at the store but was told the money had been withdrawn at Sasol garage.
Constable Mthethwa of Embalenhle Police station urges community members to exercise caution whilst at the mall.
