It is alleged that a man who works at a particular law firm located in eMbalenhle Ext 11 was scammed his money that worth fifteen thousand rand (R15,000) after being advised by a colleague to invest his money in a man who identified himself as a professional accountant.

According to reports, the victim claimed that between 27 March 2023, at approximately 11:00 am, and 28 March 2023, at approximately 10:28 am, he was recommended to the accused, who calls himself a professional accountant, by a colleague for money investments so he could be stable financially.

When his colleague gave him the accused’s phone number, the man immediately dialed the number to ask the person all the questions he had regarding the investments and the accused misled the victim into believing he was a professional accountant who could provide accurate financial statements.

The accused then further insisted that the victim pays a deposit of R 15 000 before he can commence his job.

The victim allegedly made the requested deposit.

However it is alleged that the accused stopped returning his calls and engaging in any other form of communication with the victim once the payment was made.

The eMbalenhle Police Station is conducting an investigation to apprehend all of the scammers.

Police are encouraging everyone to be more cautious in protecting their money from investments they do not understand.
