Andile Hleza (also known as Andy Keys) put eMbalenhle on the map after he managed to convince the Idols Judges and grabbed himself a Golden Ticket.
Every Idols season, young people from across the whole country stand in long queues just to get the opportunity to be recognized as potential artists.
Andile also decided to brave himself after he was encouraged to take a chance by his friends.
When asked if he was nervous and afraid of the most hated judge, Randall Abrahams, Andile said, “I was nervous, but also told myself that whatever remarks I will get, I will use them to build myself up.”
The 19-year-old is a pastor’s son and grew up being laughed at when he sang.
He said people referred to him as someone who sang with a girl’s voice.
“There was a time when I gave up on singing and concentrated on playing a keyboard,” Andile remarks.
When Seskhona News contacted him, he was waiting for the judges results which would determine whether he proceeds to the top 16 or not.
Andile said should he not make it for the top 16, it will not be the end of his music career.
“I will concentrate on my single to be released next year.
I will also use the experience I received, to prepare and go back to the Idols again next year,” Andile concluded as he was rushing to go back and rehearse to prepare himself should he qualify for the next round.
