Police in Bethal seek assistance in identifying the body of man which has been kept at the government mortuary since September 2025.
According to information at police disposal, the man wearing black clothes was hit by a vehicle on the night of 24 September 2025 on the N17 between Bethal and Ermelo.
It is alleged that driver of the vehicle summoned the police to the scene soon after the incident and police upon arrival at the scene, the driver pointed the police a body of a man across the road not far from his vehicle wearing black clothes showing no sign of life?
The police summoned all role players where Bethal Emergency Service, Bethal forensic Pathology and Secunda Local Criminal Record Centre personnel performed the measuring, drawing and photographing of scene.
The body was collected from the scene to Bethal forensic Pathology by the forensic pathologist.
Investigating officer worked closely with Secunda Local criminal record center by obtaining fingerprints from the deceased to determine his identity with the Department of Home Affairs but the results returned negative which made it difficult for police to identify the deceased.
Police in Bethal urge anyone who might have lost a loved one and does not know of their whereabouts that left their homes with the matching outfit mentioned or have information that could assist in identifying the deceased or locating his family to contact Bethal detectives on 0829231592 or call crime stop number on 08600 10111 or can also be submitted via the MYSAPSAPP.
