The Chairperson of Vukanini Taxi Association (VUKTA), Mr Fanyana Sibanyoni awarded two women with taxis to operate within the association.
The handover was done during the annual AGM meeting on Wednesday, 19 November 2025.
The gifts are said to be the ‘Chairperson Award’.
In his speech, Mr Sibonyani explained that Mrs Livuno has been working for the association after the loss of her husband in 2006, but believed that it was not enough for her family.
Meanwhile, Mrs Hlophe lost her husband in 2008 and has been surviving with the money she receives from pensioners’ grants.
“This is not showing off or wanting to be praised, but this is me helping members of the association. I don’t want to see families suffering under our leadership,” said Sibanyoni.
The two women received the keys with tears of joy and were in disbelief at the fact that the taxis would operate immediately.
“He never seems to amaze us. We are nothing without the chairman and the executive. He always makes sure that no family suffers under his leadership,” said Mrs Hlophe under the Vukanini Taxi Association Women’s League.
