As we celebrate Women’s Month this August, we proudly recognise one of our own, Yolisa Nyaba, the first and only woman Mine Overseer at Evander Gold Mine (EGM).
With years of underground mining experience, Yolisa has taken on a role that extends her expertise across both open-pit and underground operations.
She leads diverse teams in a demanding environment where safety, teamwork and operational excellence remain the highest priorities.
Her days are driven by planning, coordination and continuous learning.
From shift handovers and cross-functional planning sessions to geotechnical briefings and Visible Felt Leadership visits underground, Yolisa plays a vital role in ensuring our operations are safe, efficient and productive.
For her, leadership is about being present, working collaboratively and putting people at the centre of every decision.
