Embalenhle Ward 14 community members submitted a memorandum directed to the speaker of Govan Mbeki Municipality on Wednesday, 19 June 2024.

The memorandum, with petition signatures, seek to remove Cllr. Jabu Zwane from his councilor duties.

The subject of the memorandum stated that the community has lost confidence in Zwane’s ability to represent community interests.

“A councilor is expected to reside in the ward they represent, as it allows them to better understand the community’s needs and be more accessible to the community.”

The memorandum further expressed a decision to no longer work with Zwane due to a lack of transparency and a conflict of interests.

The municipality was given 14 days to respond to the residents of Ward 14.
Jafter Manuku, the secretary of the speaker, received the memorandum on behalf of the speaker.
