Luzuko Sibiya (22) Masimbonge Mafutha (23)and Elvin Nhlapo (21) reappearance at the Evander Magistrate’s court on Tuesday, 25 March 2025 facing charges of Murder and robbery with aggravating circumstances
Community members from Ext 20 and surroundings in eMbalenhle picketed outside the Evander Magistrate Court on Tuesday, 25 March 2025 against the release of the trio on bail.
The suspects were said to have been captured by the community members after they allegedly robbed the deceased and then stabbed her in the early hours of Saturday, 15 March 2025.
Further information revealed that Nontobeko’s cell phone and other items were found in one of the suspects’ home in the morning after the incident. Community members apprehended the suspects the very same morning and informed the police.
“We are tired of burying women who are killed by men now and then. We are here as a community to seek justice for our sister Nontobeko. We want to see the law take its course,” Said Thokozani Molusi who was part of the community members picketing outside the court
The state opposes the release of the trio on bail and the matter was postponed till the 1st of April 2025 for formal bail application.
