Members of the COSATU, EFF, and MK shut down operations at Roots Butchery in Leandra on Friday, 14 February 2025.
The parties alleged that they received complaints of exploitation from workers who are employed by the shop.
According to information received, after the parties attempted to meet with management, four employees at the shop were served with contract termination notices, and other employees thretened about losing their jobs.
After several attempts to engage with the management by the parties, they all decided to come together and march to the shop in order to get their attention.
The members together with emplozees from the shop protested outside the shop meanwhile delegates from the parties made attempts to communicate with the management telephonically.
An agreement was later reached that a meeting will be set for February 19, 2025, where the employer promised to meet the delegates from the three parties to discuss the workers grievances.
