On Wednesday, 12 February 2025, Kinross police conducted an operation on drugs and dangerous weapons at Thistle Grove Combined School.
The police were informed by the school management that there are learners who carry dangerous weapons, which endanger the lives of other learners and teachers.
Various weapons, dagga, and cigarettes were seized from learners. The police also discovered one learner was being bullied and forced to carry dagga by another learner, sold at the school.
The police urge parents to monitor their children’s backpacks to note what they carry with them to school.
Parents should make it a norm that they communicate with their children because once they start smoking, their behavior changes, said Constable Mondlane.
Meanwhile, the police in Kinross are determined to sweep drugs off the streets. The police are appealing to the community to report drug dealers by calling the crime stop number at 08600 10111, or alternatively, members of the public can send information via the MYSAPSAPP. All received information will be treated as confidential, and callers may opt to remain anonymous.
