Nonhlanhla Nkosi has been found guilty of the murder of Sifiso Lucky Kubheka and seven other charges by the Evander Magistrate’s court on Monday, 06 October 2025.

This comes after she voluntarily pleaded guilty to all the charges laid against her. Meanwhile, her co-accused Mandla Skosana, Sbusiso Skosana, and Seun Mpenzi pleaded not guilty.

In the statement read before the court, she admitted to having collected debts from people who owed her mother with the help of her boyfriend Mandla Skosana.

On the 21 of April 2024 Sfiso Kubheka allegedly went to Nonhlanhla’s house with Amukelani Vuma to borrowed the R300 meant for transport to work.

Nonhlanhla then offered to lend him R200, which would bring the total to R75,000 including the money Sfiso owed her mother.

As they had a hangover from the previous night, she offered to buy alcohol for all four of them, and Sfiso agreed to accompany her to the tavern, leaving Amukelani and Mandla Skosana at the house.

Upon returning, they found loud music playing and Mandla Skosana, Sibusiso Skosana, and Seun Mpenzi were in the house.

Sfiso asked where Amukelani was, and the trio said he went to buy something.

The three accused then grabbed Sfiso and tied him and covered his mouth so he would not scream.
Nkosi recalled that the night before, they had planned to kidnap Sfiso and intimidate him to pay back the money he owed her mother.

She then acted on a common purpose along with the three. After tying Sifiso, she asked for his phone and his banking app pin.
Thereafter, she also realised Amukelani was also tied and kept in a separate room.

The four of them proceeded to put Sfiso and Amukelani in the back of her van and drove off.
Mandla Skosana was driving the van, Sibusiso Skosana and Seun Mpenzi were at the back of the van, where Sfiso and Amukelani were.

They drove all the way to Roodebank, and upon arrival, she used a wheel spanner to strike Sfiso in the head, and he started bleeding.
He managed to stand up and ran towards the river, and they followed him.
Mandla Skosana stabbed him, leading to his death.

Sibusiso Skosana went to look for a rock, which they used to tie Sfiso’s legs so that his body would not float.
They drove back to eMbalenhle and intimidated Amukelani not to tell anyone about the incident, including the police.

When all this was done, she had Sifiso’s cellphone in her possession. During the same week Sifiso’s salary was paid into his account, she immediately transferred money to her account and that of her boyfriend, Mandla Skosasa. A sum of R19100.00 was transferred from Sfiso Kubheka’s account whilst acting in common purpose with her co-accused in the furtherance of the offence.

Nkosi’s matter has been separated from her three co-accused, and she is expected to appear before the court on 11th November 2025 for presentencing.
