14-year-old Lamaine du Plessis, born and bred in Trichardt in the Govan Mbeki Municipality, needs your help to undergo eye surgery.
Lamaine has two lazy eyes, a condition known as amblyopia, which is a form of decreased eyesight resulting from abnormal visual development. The condition is gradually reducing Lamaine’s eyesight.
The family has approached numerous state hospitals without getting any help.
In 2022, she had two eye operations on her left eye. She has been attending yearly visits to an eye specialist and optometrist, where she was doing well until recently, when her left eye began experiencing problems.
The family then went to a specialist again, who confirmed that she needs to undergo the operation.
The operation needs to be done as soon as possible. The total cost is close to R60 000, including the operation, treatment, glasses, and aftercare.
“If you open your heart to support my daughter, it would mean the world to me. It is not easy for me as her mother to witness these difficulties my daughter has and how they impact her emotionally. All we ask for is help with donations, big or small,l we will appreciate, “ said Ms Bronwayn Botha.
