Three men were killed on the N4 toll road last night, 30 March 2022, as a result of a fatal accident that occurred between an articulated truck and two sedan motor vehicles towards Mbombela near Mara turn-off last.
The sedan vehicles were identified as a Nissan Sentra and a Toyota Cressida.
According to police reports, all vehicles were driving towards Mbombela, coming from the direction of Malelane when they collided at about 21h00.
It is believed that one of the vehicles was being towed when they both lost control and veered in front of the truck traveling in the same direction.
The truck smashed into the back of one of the vehicles killing the three instantly meanwhile the truck driver escaped unharmed.
The road was partially closed to enable law enforcement and emergency personnel to work on the scene.
The investigation is still underway and it is alleged that one of the drivers allegedly fled the scene on foot.
