Heart at Heart community competition took place on Thursday, 04 August 2022 at a hardware in Ekhaya Mall, Embalenhle.
Eight (8) local schools, namely: SS Mshayisa Primary School, Zamokuhle Primary School, Thorisong Primary School, Kinross Primary School, Shapeve Primary School, Lifalethu Primary School, Tholukwazi Primary School and Embalenhle Primary School were nominated.
The aim of the competition was to give back to the community as they are overwhelmed by the amount of customers they have on a daily basis.
The eight schools were each awarded with R15 000 with the aim that the schools will purchase materials such as paint and tiles for renovations.
There were children who participated in the competition with the building materials drawings.
Each school had three winners of the drawings and the teachers were also happy for their learners.
The three learners from each schools received gold; silver and bronze medals.
The drawings will now appear on television (the hardware’s advertisement) which made the learners to be excited to do the drawings.
It was the first competition held by Cashbuild since the branch opened last year, 29 April 2021.
“The school children were happy”, said Ms Nelly Ndlangamandla who is the store manager.
The learners entertained everyone with traditional dancing, singing and speeches.
The speeches were to show appreciation to Cashbuild as they had donated money to the schools.
Out of all the drawings that were given by three learners from the eight schools, one learner was chosen by the managers.
Gugu Mtshali from Shapeve was the winner whereby she received a trophy, a certificate, school bag with stationary and a t-shirt from the hardware.
The hardware hopes to host such competitions every 5 or 6 years, which shows that they care about their community.
