Living conditions have become unbearable for the Nkosi family and their three neighbors.

The sewage spills entering their yards and houses are the cause.

Elaborating on their situation, the four families from Leandra, Ext 19, said even feces flow in their yards, and the smell is intolerable.

Some people who live in the area with the four families mentioned that Mr Nkosi abandoned his RDP house because he couldn’t bear the living conditions.

Ms Nomthandazo Khumalo said after a rainy day, they have come to terms with not being able to go outside because of sewage water flowing in the yard.

She went on to explain that the living conditions they are in are making her children sick, particularly the one with asthma.

Ms Ethel Fantein said the problem started after four (4) years of living in the RDP house several years ago.

“I don’t care about myself anymore because I’m already old, but what about my children and grandchildren?

We have been experiencing this problem for more than 20 years, and it seems there is no solution from the government,” said Gogo Fantein.

Furthermore, the families clarified that spills had damaged their furniture and clothes.

Gogo Mandonsela expressed her anticipation for the day when the house will collapse, hoping to be left without a roof since it is no longer a warm home.
