EVANDER – A family from eMbalenhle visited Evander Police Station asking for help after a man was suspected to have died underground.
The man was said to have taken part in illegal mining at Evander Gold Mine and the family began to be suspicious when he did not return home.
On their efforts to get information of his whereabouts, they were informed by one of the illegal miners that he died underground.
According to the information they received, the distance to where he died is about 1200km.
Evander police are still trying to engage relevant stakeholders so that his body could be retrieved.
