An inquest has been opened by the Embalenhle police station after a foetus was found in a river at ext 16 on Friday, 13 October 2023.
It would appear as though the mother had an illegal abortion, thereby discarding the foetus.
A community member informed the police of the discovery, and they responded swiftly to the scene.
The foetus was certified dead by emergency personnel.
The incident had been strongly condemned by the police, who urged community members to report culprits who commit such crimes.
