While the whole country and the world continue to place their eyes firmly on the outcomes of General Elections that were held on Wednesday, many football supporters, will make their way to Mbombela Stadium to watch the much anticipated Nedbank Cup final match between Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates this Saturday.

This therefore means, once more, tourism in and around the City of Mbombela will be bolstered by those who are coming to watch the sold-out football game.

These visitors are expected to spend money on accommodation and entertainment.

“While welcomes all the teams, visitors and football supporters alike, we want to reassure them that the law enforcement and security agencies will be on high alert to ensure a safe, secure and incident-free football weekend in Mbombela.

We are, however, calling on those who will be driving to Mbombela to do so cautiously, obey the rules, and also drive in a considerate manner.”

Motorists should also note that with the winter season upon us, some roads in the province are inclined to misty conditions in the morning and evenings, especially in the highveld.

The roads prone to mist include parts of N17, N11, N12, N4, N3, R568, R36 R38, and R40.Driving in misty conditions, motorists are urged to switch on headlamps. In addition, they are advised to maintain prudent following distances.

Furthermore, as part of easing congestion towards the match venue, Park and Ride will be implemented. Park and Ride facilities will be available at Riverside Government Complex, Valencia School, and Hoerskool Bergvlam, among others. The supporters are also reminded that no drinking and driving and excessive speeding will NOT be allowed.

Those who will be found drinking in public places will be arrested.The owners of liquor trading outlets and taverns are also urged to fully comply with their trading licences by opening and closing on time.
