Schools in Govan Mbeki Municipality participated in the CAF (PAN) soccer tournament for under-14-year-olds on the 7th of May 2025 at the Sasol club Kinross.
The tournament was intended to get a winner that will represent the Govan Mbeki Municipality schools at the district. The winning school in the District will represent the Gert Sibande District Municipality in the province.
Eight schools took part in the tournament, namely Sizwakele Secondary, Maphala Gulube, Kusasalethu, Buyani, Sasolia, KI Twala, and AD Nkosi.
Sizwakele Secondary claimed victory after a hard game with KI Twala that ended in penalties with a score of 10-9, making them the champions of the tournament.
Kinross SAPS also attended the tournament together with the crime wardens attached to the station.
Constable Mondlane from Kinross Police Station encouraged the learners to take part in sports activities more often, even during their spare time. Mondlane also urged them to refrain from bullying other learners at schools, as bullying is most common in schools.
