Khumbulani Magubane (31), Vusi Kleinboy Nhlapo (28), Sibusiso Edward Ntamane (24) and Nkosinathi Manana (33) appeared before the Evander Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, 02 December 2025, facing kidnapping and rape charges.
They were all found guilty of kidnapping and multiple rape charges against a sex worker.
According to information at the police disposal, the four were driving a red VW Polo in the early hours of 24 February 2019.
During the trial, the victim testified that she was terrified and chased towards Shell Garage in Kinross with a knife, and forced to get into the vehicle.
Witnesses also testified before the court, and all their statements corroborated that it was in the early hours of the morning when the four accused alighted from the vehicle and started chasing the women. Some were able to run and hide in the garage, but the victim was not. She was threatened with a knife and forced to get into the vehicle.
Whilst in the car, they covered her eyes and the two accused, who were sitting at the back, started raping her whilst the car was headed to Secunda.
Their destination was a secluded veld in Secunda, where the four took turns raping her. They threatened to kill her if she did not cooperate.
They sexually assaulted her through the anus, vagina and orally.
It was further mentioned that they then drove to eMbalenhle to one of the accused’s baby mamas’ house, where the three accused continued to rape the victim whilst the driver of the car went home.
She was later found half-naked and traumatised by police after her friends reported the matter to the police.
The four were traced by the car and arrested.
They are expected to be sentenced on 22 January 2026.
