After receiving complaints about the pipe burts, Govan Mbeki Municipality team attended to a number of burst pipes around the municipality.
One of the pipe bursts was in eMbalenhle next to Mbalenhle Primary School.
It is alleged that during the process of installing the new pipes, a fully formed fetus was found in the drainage on Wednesday, 05 July 2023 around 10h00 at White City near Ext 16, Mandela.
eMbalenhle SAPS members swiftly responded to the scene and the lifeless corpse was taken to Evander mortuary where the baby was declared dead.
According to Constable Busisiwe Mthethwa from eMbalenhle Police Station, a case was opened for investigation.
No arrests have been made at this point.
