Sifiso Innocent Khumalo (42) appeared before the Evander magistrate’s court today, 15 July 2025, for the premeditated murder of his stepdaughter Nomvula ‘Meme’ Mayisa.

Nomvula Mayisa was reported missing after being absent from school for days, which her class teacher said was unlike her to be absent from school.

Her body was discovered in a decomposing state at Khumalo’s residence days after he was arrested for the murder of his pregnant girlfriend.

Preliminary investigations suggested that the stepdaughter had recently argued with Khumalo over his intention to sell the shack that once belonged to her late mother.

The teenager had reportedly objected, expressing concern for her younger siblings, who would need a place to stay in the future.

Khumalo is now facing two counts of premeditated murder and one count of rape, with a possibility of more charges to be added.

His appearance comes after he allegedly confessed to the murder of his stepdaughter.

It is further alleged that in his confession, he told officials how he murdered Nomvula and proceeded to murder his girlfriend. Furthermore, he has requested to be kept alone in his cell as he hears voices urging him to kill.

He was then requisitioned to appear in court for his matter to be linked to the allegations of the murder of his stepdaughter.

He is expected to appear again on the 27th of August 2025 for further investigations.
