The Gert Sibande District Municipality (GSDM) has passed the Auditor General’s test following an unqualified audit outcome without findings (“Clean Audit”) for the 2020/21 financial year.
A clean audit opinion means that the municipality’s financial statements are free from material misstatements, in other words, a financially unqualified audit opinion, and there are no material findings on reporting on performance objectives or non-compliance with legislation.
This was revealed through the Auditor General of South Africa (AGSA) Audit report issued to GSDM on 26 January 2022.
Senior Officials from the AGSA Mpumalanga officially presented the report to GSDM Council at the GSDM Council Chambers in Ermelo on Thursday, 27 January.
The AGSA found that there was zero Unauthorized, Irregular, Fruitless and Wasteful (UIFW) expenditure on GSDM books.
The GSDM Executive Mayor, Cllr Walter Mngomezulu and the Council members welcomed the report and resolved that it be made public for comments and referred to the Municipal Public Account Committee (MPAC) together with the Annual Report for year ending 30 June 2021 for further deliberations.
