GSDM leads awareness to communities on the importance of Ozone Layer

Gert Sibande District Municipality hosted an Ozone Layer celebration day on Tuesday, 19 September 2023 at Kgotso Lapa in eMbalenhle.

The celebration aimed to bring awareness to the communities about the importance of the ozone layer, the ways to prevent its depletion and the ways of protecting it.

“We want people to learn and know more about the ozone layer because we believe that it is important for one’s life,” said Mandla Shabangu.

Sanelisiwe Sibiya from GSDM amazed the audience with a presentation touching on different topics including the difference between ozone layer and climate change.

Community members were given the opportunity to ask certain questions about the presentation.

The GSDM believes that everyone has the right to be around an unharmful environment and aims to educate community members about the ozone layer more often.
