Busi Mahlangu, a 34-year-old woman from Leandra, Ext 13, is pleading with the public to help fund her so she can undergo breast surgery.
According to Mimi Maphangela, who is a family member, Busi grew up as a normal child despite being disabled. Her breast condition was never noticed until the size started to increase rapidly.
The family has already made attempts to get help from surrounding public hospitals and even went as far as going to Steve Biko Hospital with no luck. She has been on the waiting list at Steve Biko for more than four years now.
At this stage, Busi is unable to work and do ordinary house chores because of the weight on her breast to the point where she now suffers from severe back and spinal cord pains.
“I’m unable to do anything as my breasts are weighing heavily on me and I lost my confidence at an early age. I cannot walk freely around people”, Buhle said emotionally.
A quotation for the surgery was done, and the estimated cost for breast reduction surgery is approximately eighty thousand rand (R80,000 – 00) which includes a two-night hospital stay with additional charges incurred for any extended stay beyond the duration.
