The police in Leslie warn motorists of a new modus operandi used by hijackers
According to the police, the hijackers ask for a lift at the parking lot or by the side of the road.
“In many cases, the victims gave lifts to people who pretended to be from work.
And in most cases, the hijackers had ropes in their bags and were normally not alone. As soon as you pick them up, there will be another vehicle tailing you. Most victims were dumped in Linesia and Zonkizizwe, said Sargent Nontobeko Ngobeni.
The police urge motorists to refrain from giving lifts, especially to people wearing PPE or work suits.
