A case of kidnapping and assault GBH was opened at the Embalenhle Police Station and the suspect is still at large.

This was after the woman who was busy doing her laundry on Thursday, 24 March 2022 was alerted by a concerned member of the public that her baby was seen with a man catching a local taxi.

The complainant went to check on her baby who was sleeping inside the house, only to find the baby was gone.

The mother of the baby immediately followed the suspect and on her arrival at his place, he locked both the mother and the baby inside his room.

The suspect demanded to know the whereabouts of the baby’s umbilical cord, also forcing the mother to breastfeed the baby.

 Embalenhle Police Spokesperson Const Busi Mthethwa confirmed that a case was opened meanwhile the relationship between the complainant and the suspect is not clear at this stage as investigation is still underway.

According to the police, the man handcuffed the complainant and sjamboked her while she was locked in his room.

The complainant was rescued by the police on Friday, 25 March 2022 but the suspect is still at large.
