An elderly man from Gate 4 in eMbalenhle who has raised his children and grandchildren alone after his wife passed away in 2006 was visited by DCSSL on Tuesday, 13 December 2022 with an early Christmas gift.

Christmas meals shared with family are the ones that makes the festive season special therefore the Provincial Head of the Directorate For Priority Crime Investigation, Major General Zodwa Mokwoena together with her team felt it was appropriate to share the festive experience by sharing food parcels with the family.

Major General Mokwoena stated that their job is not only to arrest criminals as they also have a social influence role they have to play with in the community.

“The wellbeing of this family rests with us because we also form part of the community.

Our commitment is also vested on showing our members of the community humility, compassion and love,” said the General.

She further expressed her specially gratitude to her team for being able raise funds to make the hand over of food parcel a success and in supporting the elderly man along with his family so that they can enjoy their festive season.

“I am grateful for the support the Hawks gave me today, it means a lot to me and my family after my wife passed away long time ago and I had to raise all my children alone which was not easy,” said the elderly man.

The children were ecstatic and enjoyed some of their snacks shortly after the handover.
