The Mpumalanga Provincial Treasury led a workshop and engagement session on supply chain management on Thursday, 12 October 2023 at Lillian Ngoyi Centre.

The workshop was a follow-up engagement that seeks to respond to various issues that were raised by the business community, which include, amongst others, the application of various procurement regulations, matters relating to the allocation of construction works in the municipality, agricultural projects, and other business development opportunities.

The aim of the event was to improve awareness of public procurement value chains and other funding opportunities in the business sector, thereby contributing to the broad-based and inclusive participation of small businesses in the provincial economy.

Although the business community was disappointed as they were expecting answers from the previous engagement, the event was a success.

“We appreciate the visit, but you came back with different people, and now we have to go back and ask the same questions, which is a waste of time,” said one of the community members during the session.

The Provincial Treasury was joined by supply chain officials from the Department of Economic Development and Tourism, Department of Human Settlements, Department of Public Works, Roads and Transport, Department of Agriculture, Rural Development, Land and Environmental Affairs, Govan Mbeki Local Municipality, and the Gert Sibande District Municipality.

In closing the event, all officials wish to have more engagements to help the business community grow and gain knowledge.
