Gert Sibande TVET College held its first quarter Council meeting on the 27th and 28th of March 2025, bringing together key stakeholders to reflect on institutional progress, performance, and future plans.

A significant highlight of the meeting was the appointment of Ms Ncumisa Mdlankomo as a new Council member. Ms Mdlankomo, a dedicated lecturer based at the Evander Campus, joins the governing body of the college, bringing with her a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of the teaching and learning environment.

“I am grateful for this kind of opportunity; it is a big role, as I have to represent my staff, and it is my wish to positively contribute to ensuring that we succeed in striving to be the leading college brand in South Africa,” said Ms Mdlankomo.

“To represent the interests of the staff members, as we all know that we are one of the stakeholders of teaching and learning.”

College Council members play a crucial role in the governance of TVET colleges across South Africa. Their responsibilities include developing strategic plans, ensuring regulatory compliance, approving key policies, monitoring institutional performance, and overseeing financial management.

In accordance with national legislation, Council members are appointed for a term of five years, with a maximum of two consecutive terms.
