Just after the Mpumalanga Provincial ANC Congress that saw “the Focus” slate led by the newly elected Chairperson Mandla Ndlovu triumph during the elections, the ANC did not waste time to remind the newly elected Provincial Treasurer to step aside.

According to the letter dated Sunday, 3 April 2022 issued by National Treasurer General, Paul Mashatile, the NEC noted that Mandla Msibi who is facing a murder charge has already stepped aside from his duties of the Provincial Executive Committee and has since been elected Provincial Treasurer during the conference that took place from 1 – 3 April 2022.

“We remind you that the National Executive Committee at its meeting on 26 – 29 March 2021 reaffirmed the resolution of the 54th National Conference that all members who have been charged with corruption or other serious crimes must step side, failing which they should be suspended in terms of Rule 25.70 of the ANC Constitution.

We attach hereto, for ease of reference, as attachment A, the Guidelines and procedures for the implementation of the above resolution, adopted by the NEC on 13-14 February 2021.

We also attach hereto, for ease of reference, as attachment B, the terms and conditions regulating the participation and conduct of members during the period that they step aside voluntarily,” the letter states.

At the end of the letter, he was also requested to confirm that his decision to step aside voluntarily on the terms and conditions outlined will remain in force.

The letter was also copies to the newly elected Provincial Secretary, Muzi Chirwa.
