A new school year means new beginnings and new school essentials, which not every family is privileged to afford.

Indawo Yosizo Foundation in Partnership with SCM Industries and SCZ Zondo transport in Bethal launched a back to school campaign under the theme  “No child should carry their future in a plastic bag”.

On Tuesday, 09 January 2023 they distributed over 94 school bags along with 23 pairs of school shoes, tooth brushes and sanitary pads to children from child headed homes, disadvantaged primary school leaners and orphans.

According to Zanele Gwebu who is the founder of Indawo Yosizo Foundation, the back to school initiative of school backpack drive was started with the aim to promote confidence in the classroom and to help learners focus on their school work in a dignified manner, ensuring that a learner feels equal to other learners when schools re-opens.

“When we started the campaign, we aimed to reach a target of 100 back pack but instead we reached 94 which was a great success considering this was our first drive campaign.

We started collecting in December 2022 until beginning of January 2023 and within a short space of time, we almost reached our target.

I would like to express my deepest gratitude towards everyone for giving me a positive height at Indawo Yosizo Foundation, your support has created an impact greatly and the organization has finally kept children at school.

We really appreciate every donation towards the drive”, Zanele said thankful to the people who supported the drive.
