Rising Stars football club hosted its second annual back to school tournament with the aim to collect school supplies and donate them to underprivileged learners.
The tournament was hosted on Saturday, 07 January 2023 at Sasol Club Embalenhle sports facilities.
Six (6) teams falling under 13 and 15 years took part in the tournament.
Sanitary towels, stationary, school shoes, and uniform were supplied by donors for the tournament which will be donated to deserving learners once schools re-open.
Red Straus Academy, Rising Stars Black Aces, Black Aces, Emba Aces, Secunda Stars and Rising Stars are some of the teams that participated in the tournament with different stakeholders who took part in the donating of stationary and making sure the tournament was a success.
“The tournament was a great success unlike our first annual which we hosted this year as most people reached out to the back to school programme.
We are currently still awaiting for more donations and people should feel free to lend a hand as the programme will be running until end of April”, said Thabo Tholo the tournament organizer.
