A fast-moving vehicle chase involving Rietgat police and two suspects in a black BMW 320 sedan concluded when one of them was shot near a funeral parlour in Block BB at midday on Monday, 25 July 2022.
The two men were arrested.
They were reported to be wielding a firearm at members of the public near the Mabopane station through the window of their BMW.
When police officers tried to stop the car after detecting the incident, the pair sped away.

The men maintained their high speed, driving carelessly despite the efforts of the SAPS to stop the chase.

The chase came to a halt near the funeral parlour and the driver was shot in the waist.
The men were then taken into custody and police recovered an illegal firearm along with illegal missiles in the motor vehicle.
