South African Democratic Teachers Union (SADTU) rolled out a programme to visit schools and donate masks and sanitizers.
Basizeni Speacial School was one of the schools visited on Monday, 9 November 2020.
The school principal, Mrs Mirriam Rampai thanked SADTU for the donations. Mrs Rampai was accompanied by the circuit manager Mr PS Molepo.
The union representatives were also taken through the classrooms to see how the school responds to COVID-19.
The SADTU local branch secretary, Mr. Serake said it was a provincial initiative and as the local branch, they chose Osizweni Special School in Leandra and Basizeni Special School which based in Embalenhle.
According to him, Basizeni School has the most improved classrooms and resources meant to cater for a special school.
The union delegates were also taken to the computer room and the welding class.
The school is also equipped with the Occupational Therapy Room with a full time therapist.
