A jeep wrangler was reported stolen in a house robbery at Secunda on the early hours of Saturday, 26 November 2022.
At about 13h00 afternoon the next day the Police in eMbalenhle received a complaint about the stolen vehicle spotted in Ext 18.
Constable Busisiwe Mthethwa, spokesperson of eMbalenhle police station said that the suspects were armed therefore the police mobilised backup from nearby stations which were Evander Police and Secunda Dog unit who responded swiftly to the call.
“Upon arrival the vehicle was spotted parked along the streets of Ext 18.
The police approached the motor vehicle and three suspects came out fleeing on foot to different directions,” said Mthethwa.
One suspect was caught near the motor vehicle meanwhile the other two proceeded to flee.
According to reports, police fired warning shots and the suspects retaliated shooting back at the police.
One suspect was shot by the police meanwhile the other fled.
The shot suspect was taken to Evander hospital for medical care but later succumbed to his injuries and the third suspect is still at large.
The motor vehicle was recovered along with the stolen appliances.
The police in eMbalenhle are pleading with the community who might have information of the third suspect to come forward.
