A 50 year old male suspect appeared before Bethal Magistrate’s Court for possession of suspected stolen properties on Tuesday, 13 September 2022.

This is after the suspect was spotted by SAPS members who were conducting routine patrols duties around Bethal policing precinct.

A white Opel Corsa bakkie was stopped, searched and white bags containing cow-feeds were found. Police requested the suspect to provide ownership of the luggage however the suspect was tongue tied.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the load matched the properties that were reported stolen from a nearby Goedehoop farm.

The suspect was arrested with the luggage valued at R15 000 recovered and the vehicle was confiscated for further investigation.

According to Constable Thomas Mogadime the accused appeared before the Bethal Magistrate court where pleaded guilty of the charge and the matter was finalised in court. The accused therefore paid admission of guilt fine of six hundred rand (R600).

The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela was overwhelmed by the arrest and indicated that the police in Mpumalanga will remain available on the streets to ensure that every person and their properties are safe.
